Bart is from the Misty X Pete litter and went home with Kevin Crinklaw who trained Adirondac Reddog Rigby to the level of Senior Hunter. Kevin and Rigby have terrorized the marshes, woods and fields of the Adirondacks for several years. Kevin needs to write a new textbook on how to start a golden puppy in field work. Come along with us as Bart develops into a real hunter's champion.

The boys never forget...

Dear Mom and Dad,
You would be so proud of me. Today I did my first solo goose hunt....!!!!
Adirondac Rigby Reddog broke a toe nail yesterday in training....... he's all right but Kevin didn't want to push him...... After work today we scouted the goose pond where 100's of geese were floating.........
I didn't have high hopes because I knew Rigby wasn't 100%, But Kevin came back to the truck....... Placed the collar on ME.....Ya ME....put the whistles around his neck....... camo shirt and shotgun........ he stepped back from the truck and said "BART"....... And only Bart...... I was sooooooo excited....... I was on my solo voyage to the far end of the goose pond...... I was so excited .... I wagged my tail and almost fell over.......I wanted to bark or Yip but I knew I must not scare the geese........ The trail seemed 10 miles long......the geese were honking away......they were everywhere...... And finally the pace slowed....we were nearing the spot...... I heeled like I never heeled before........ I wanted sooooo much to do this right........... Kevin stopped.....I sat.....a couple more steps.....I sit again.....a few more.....I sit.....and we stare through the cat-tails..... The geese were to the left and right...... and some more were out in front of us........ WHAT WAS I TO DO........ They are soooo big and loud......... Kevin stood up and waved his hat......I heard him yell " HEY - HEY".....and geese started flying away...... The gun was shouldered...." BANG..!!!" and the geese kept flying....... "I think he missed....." but wait .....here comes more........ the gun starts to swing....." BANG...!!!" and this lone goose folded and "SPLASH.....!!!!!".......... I'm trembling with excitement........ Kevin lower the shotgun......places his hand over my head and said ..."BART"....... Oh boy ....It's up to me now...... I take a line through the weeds.......I'm closing in....... I smell goose....... and I'm there........ It's huge.......I have a great hold and turn back......I hear the TOOT-TOOT..........the shore in only a few feet away....I'm tired....but I bull my way through......... There's Kevin.........I run up......spin around him....and sit......... He's wearing this SMILE that's bigger then the goose I'm holding.......... He bends down.....takes hold of the goose and says "DROP"........ I drop the goose....... Then Kevin lets out this JOYFUL PRAISE OF GOOD BOYS....... I spin around...... he's as excited as I am....... He scoops me up and Gives me this huge hug. At that moment I thought.... you would be so proud of ME!

Good morning,
Mr. Bart went pheasant hunting yesterday........ what an adventure for him...... I had a pheasant that ran from the field in to a hedge row....got tangled up in the vines...... and finally flew out of site...... to far to shoot...... SO... Rigby and Bart hit the track....BIRDY is an understatement..... The excitement level for BART was 1000%......... When the 2 hit the spot were the bird tangled up in the vines, I turned away and fired a shot with the Benelli....Then I droppped my Dokken Puppy size mallard...... The shot didn't phase Bart at all.....He was totally pumped...... Then I collect Bart .....walked him to the Doken and He attacked it.....and carried it around for a while.....like a million dollars.... On the way back to the truck.....hundreds of geese were dropping from the sky.....Rigby automatically sits.....when he hears/sees geese this close.......Bart observed Rigby and sits down next to him......I watched 2 Goldens, sit and scan the sky as geese landed in an adjacent field...... What a GREAT OUTING...... maybe we'll do it again today.........
Have a Great GOLDEN DAY, Kevin / Rigby & Bart
Nov. 17, 2010
Good morning,
Today I had an AWESOME training mistake........ The start of every morning at work......air Rigby and Bart.....Rigby goes back in the truck.....Bart gets multiple hand throw marks as we hide bumbers for Rigby......Rigby comes out and picks up multiple blinds.....Bart sits at heel.....watches Rigby.... Today I walked them both out, made them sit 20 yards from cone......placed 6 dead birds....preparing for your favorite 6 bumper drill.....Bart sits and watches as I plant each bird...toss bumper and say "DEAD BIRD"... I step on Barts leash and give Rigby the DEAD BIRD,Line, Back.....Bart watches....jumps with excitement.. and I tell him "NO BIRD"... As we moved back, I lined Rigby but didn't get a good step on Barts leash....On "BACK"....Rigby takes the line.....Bart slips my step......and continues to the pile.....grabs a bumper and heads back..... Both dogs are now at heel.....with a bumper each.... WOW.....I get more bumpers.....set them back at 20 yards.....Plant bumpers.....And focus on Bart...Because I know Rigby will run this......send them both.....and it worked....we move back each time and we ended up at 50 yards....... So now I have Bart and Rigby running side by side out to a pile.....each retrieving their own bumper...... WOW...!!!!! Carol, you did the right thing by helping me with STRIPES !!!!!!!!!!!!!
Thank-you SOOOOOOO Much !!!! Kevin / Rigby / Bart
