"Juneau"

What a long time coming, but how sweet the taste of success! "Juneau" finished her JH at 9 months of age in 1995. Then we had a long dry spell while I muddled through learning how to handle, finishing her SH at the Golden National in 1999. Now the really tough times hit us, working toward that Master. She got to the last bird of her first-ever master test in 2000, and convinced me that this was "do-able". My heart positively sunk when the double blind requirement hit the books, as at that time we were definitely a team comprised of a Junior handler running a Senior dog in Master stakes.
My Litter Mate is
Our first leg came in the fall of 2002 (after failing 12 - 15 tests). The next two trickled in during 2003, but the final two came over successive weekends in the spring of 2004. She is now an old dog of 9 1/2 , but her attitude and style are those of a winner. Of course, you all know of the hundreds of birds thrown by my friends, the lessons and drills taught by Bob Reckart and the support of the other contestants at all those tests. Thanks to you all for enabling that little red dog to finally wear those MH letters. She truly IS a Master Hunter.
